Wounded and with nowhere else to go, David Walker brings his young nephew to the woman he has dreamed about since childhood, Hannah. Hannah has never forgotten the boy who soothed and protected her when she first came to the orphanage. She has no idea he has silently watched her grow up and that he admires the woman she has become and her dedication to teaching. They are still linked through her friendship with his adoptive parents.
Hannah cannot turn David, or Spirit Walker as he is now known, away because she is in love with him. There is no question that Hannah will take chances to help David, his sister and nephew from being harmed by their ruthless enemy, but can she risk losing her heart?
It is wonderful to see the characters from Walker's Widow reunited in this poignant, action-packed western. Ms. Betts gives readers a marvelous portrait of the Wild West, as well as the secondary story of a woman overcoming abuse. This tale tugs at your heart, makes you smile and certainly lets you feel good as you turn the pages just to keep up with Hannah and David's adventures. SENSUAL (Jan., 380 pp., $5.99)
