Lisa Childs' Haunted (3) begins a series focusing on the cursed descendants of a family of witches. In the first novel, Ariel, abandoned by her mother and separated from her two sisters, has grown up to be wary of the gift that allows her to see the newly departed. She loses her job as a teacher after her power compels her to help an abused student. Despite the seeming devotion of her fiance, David, and his best friend, Ty, Ariel becomes increasingly aware that she and her sisters are in danger from someone close to her, and she must find and warn them before it's too late. This compelling story has a sympathetic heroine, and the devotion between David and Ariel is palpable, creating a strong love story.
