Thompson's novel is filled with realistic dialogue, a compelling narrative and believable conflict. The multiple viewpoints add dimension to the plot, and the characters are very well done.

Former teen bad boy Mark Jessup returns to his hometown to care for the terminally ill father who disowned him. Years ago, Mark drove the pickup that crashed into a car of cheerleaders, leaving three dead and one severely injured. Mark is stunned to discover the surviving girl is now the hospice nurse assigned to his father's case.

When Mark shows up, Beth Ann Decker realizes her permanent scars are more than just physical. She also finds herself in incredible danger after a murder hits very close to home. Mark, considered a suspect, is the one person whose motives for unraveling the crime match Beth Ann's -- and the man who most challenges her long-held beliefs about life and love. (LOVE SPELL, Jul.,
