Supernatural races edge closer to war in this next chapter in Strong’s post-apocalyptic series. Finding ways to survive takes a lot of effort for the inhabitants of this desolate world, where life is cheap and easily discarded. Strong continues to build a riveting series.

Rebekka’s amazing healing powers are put to the test way too often as she spends her time in the shapeshifter brothels. Rebekka’s gift has given her the ability to save shapeshifters trapped between their human and animal form. But there’s a catch: they can only choose one form and never again shift.

In the land of the Weres, Aryck, the Jaguar enforcer, has heard of Rebekka. To save the lives of several cubs infected with a man-made plague, Aryck tracks her down. Rebekka agrees to try and help. Rebekka and Aryck discover that the release of the plague may be part of a larger plan. And then there’s their own strictly forbidden attraction … (BERKLEY SENSATION, Sep., 384 pp., $15.00)

This is a fabulous book. It starts slow as this story is set up and ties to the previous books are put in place. Once the Rebekka and Aryck meet, the story moves quickly and becomes more intense.

Jory Strong sets the story in post-apocolyptic earth. In this time, the paranormal people have come out of hiding and there is a struggle between all people. Rebekka is a healer. She heals shapeshifters but her powers have limits that keep her fully healing those caught between forms. Aryck is the enforcer for his jaguar clan. He is sent on a quest to find Rebekka so that she can save some cubs that were injured with an old weapon from the last war.

Their meeting and Rebbeka's quest to heal shapeshifters is the latest battle in fight that spans generations and has ramifications for the future.

This is a good addition to this series.
