HEALING HEARTS (4.5) by Margaret Daley: Social worker Abbey Harris meets young Madison Winters, who is recovering from injuries sustained in a plane crash that killed her parents. Abbey hopes her therapy dogs can provide a breakthrough, emotionally and physically, for her. Madison’s brother Dominic is struggling with his new role as guardian, while running his own company miles away. Abbey bonds with Madison, who reminds her of her late daughter. Both Dominic and Abbey need help, but they are too independent to ask for it. The characters are strong and authentic and the storyline, including a secondary plot, is fully developed in this keeper. The first in Daley’s Caring Canines series is also a fantastic tribute to therapy animals.
