Book Review

HEALING PROMISES
by Amy Wallace

Genre: Inspirational, Mainstream

RT Rating

Wallace has hit her stride with the second novel of her Defenders of Hope series. The well-constructed plot is both touching and intriguing, combining equal parts suspense and heart-tugging struggles with health and God. Realistic characters continue from the previous book, but you don't have to have read the first one to follow all the drama.

FBI agent Clint Rollins will stop at nothing to save the lives of children in peril. When he's shot in a rescue attempt, it just might save his own life: Clint finds out that he has cancer. This rocks his wife Sara's world. She's an oncologist -- shouldn't she have made the diagnosis herself?

Clint is driven to search for the
child murderer even while undergoing chemo treatments. Where is God in
the midst of these trials? (MULTNOMAH, Apr., 336 pp., $13.99)
