HEART AT RISK (3) by Ana Leigh: After being injured on his latest assignment with a CIA anti-terrorist unit, Kurt Bolan returns to his hometown of Vandergriff, Wis. At a restaurant, he runs into old acquaintance Maddie Bennett and her son, Scott. She seems agitated and in short order, Kurt finds out why: He's a father; the woman he remembers more as a geek is now one hot woman; and she's not impressed with his job. So it doesn't help that his last assignment brings trouble to Maddie's front door. If future stories in the Bishop's Heroes series are anything like this one, readers are in for some action-packed adventures. In this outing, however, the heroine is a little too rigid, and it takes some prodding to clue her in about compromise and a person's ability to change.
