Dare’s latest novel set in 19th-century London combines a weather-controlling Scottish witch with a chivalrous English vampyre and what occurs is an amusing, romantic adventure with quirky, likable characters. A remarkably delightful read that will hook you from the first page.

Matthew Halkett, Earl of Blodswell and vampyre, is walking near Hyde Park when he comes across Rhiannon Sinclair caught in the middle of a thunderstorm. When he tries to help, he realizes that she is causing the storm. A weather-controlling witch, Rhiannon wants nothing to do with Matthew because he is a vampyre. Yet, every time they are around each other their supernatural abilities go haywire even as their feelings for each other grow. (SOURCEBOOKS, Jul., 384 pp., $7.99)
