Lovely dips into the business of church folk with her latest. Both hilarious and scandalous, serious and sobering, the story's fast pace works with the flowing action. Dialogue is so potent and keen that readers know the captivating quirks and personality of each character. The author will certainly please her existing fan base and gain some new ones.

Three best friends, Hope, Stacy and Frieda, are at different points in their spiritual walk. Frieda is the hussy of the group. Stacy carries her anger to church regularly since her son's father -- her estranged husband -- is a gospel music megastar and living openly with another man. Hope is the most stable, spiritually and maritally, until her husband's former zealous suitor entrenches herself in their lives. When scandal threatens to topple Stacy's and Hope's livelihoods, they must grab hold of wavering faith. (DAFINA, Aug., 320 pp., $14.00)
