Angel Eloise is back and has been sent to Earth as a mortal to learn the virtues of faith, hope and love. She ends up teaching kindergarten, where she meets a child, Phoebe, and her widowed detective father, Nathan.

Now she finds herself attracted to Nathan and becoming involved in his and Phoebe's lives, which is necessary so that she can return to heaven. But she didn't realize how hurt they'd be when it came time for her to leave.

HEAVEN SENT is the second in McCoy's delightful angel trilogy. The author nicely shows Eloise adjusting to being human and learning about virtue. Phoebe is a delight, and Nathan is a pleasing hero. Though both Eloise and Nathan first appear in Heaven in Your Eyes, you don't have to know that book to enjoy this one. (Oct., 320 pp., $6.50)
