THE HELLHOUND KING (4.5) by Lori Devoti: Half-elf, half-witch Marina Adal is hiding in the United States, working as a chambermaid, to avoid returning to the elf world, Alfheim, and living as a princess under her uncle's control. But when Raf Dolg, the hellhound she had an affair with and then imprisoned, comes to take her home, Marina realizes that he's the least of her worries, as he's not the only one out to capture her. In fact, when she's in danger, Raf travels to Alfheim to save her and solve the mystery of who killed his family. Devoti hits a home run. Sparks fly between Raf and Marina, and the story will keep you on the edge of your seat. Devoti makes a supernatural world seem as if it really exists.
