HER AMISH MAN
It is easy to become involved in the lives of the engaging characters in this charming debut. Full of fascinating cultural detail, without being too heavy-handed, Her Amish Man is a touching story with a Witness premise. The twist of romantic suspense contrasts rather nicely with the budding romance between two individuals from the differing worlds of Amish and English.
Witnessing a murder, and being subsequently framed for it, Leah McKenzie fears for her life. Knowing she needs a safe place to hide out, she flees from the city, and heads straight to the home of her estranged grandmother in Amish country. Upon arriving, Leah has an unfortunate accident that leads her to meet John Miller, a craftsman and military veteran who has returned to his roots looking for peace and tranquility. When he meets Leah, he is intrigued and soon finds himself falling for the young “English” woman. When trouble eventually comes their way, John and Leah must make difficult decisions, ones that could change the course of their lives forever. (GALLERY, Sep., 304 pp., $15.00)
