HER HUSBAND'S PARTNER
HER HUSBAND'S PARTNER (4) by Jeanie London: Two years after her police officer husband was gunned down before he could testify against a gang leader, Riley Angelica moves back to Poughkeepsie with her twins to get back to her old life. Holding down a job and caring for two young children is tough, and she finds herself leaning on her husband's old partner, Scott Emerson, for help. Having always been attracted to Riley, Scott experiences guilt over his feelings and vows to maintain some distance, but when Riley is almost run down and then her home is broken into, he suspects that the past is coming back to haunt them both. This is an exciting story from start to finish. London has managed to combine a good amount of action with the sweetness of a budding relationship. Scott's guilt over his attraction to Riley -- and Riley's own insecurity about moving back home -- come across as very true to life. London also keeps the story quite realistic with her use of gang language.
