RT Rating

Robards is back with the third installment of her Dr. Charlotte “Charlie” Stone novels, featuring the unlikely crime-solving duo of ghost-seeing Charlie and the ghost of convicted killer Michael Garland. Robards does an outstanding job providing a mystery/thriller that is truly creepy and dangerous. Additionally, the unconventional romance between Charlie and sexy bad-boy Michael continues evolving — despite the living/dead gulf between them. Robards is truly a master storyteller who makes this atypical romantic suspense series really work!

Charlie’s day goes from bad to worse when she is bitten during an interview with a serial killer. Then Michael’s ghost comes under attack from a “hunter.” Charlie barely manages to save Michael with the help of her medium friend, Tam, but the danger still lurks. Then, Charlie’s help is requested by FBI Agent Tony Bartoli. Fellow Fed Lena Kaminsky’s sister has disappeared in Las Vegas and may be the victim of a serial killer. Michael doesn’t want Charlie putting herself at risk once again, but Charlie can’t say no. Will Charlie’s luck run out this time? (BALLANTINE, Sep., 352 pp., $26.00)
