Never did Miss Charlotte Hastings think that a pocket containing a map and keys would lead to such dire consequences. She finds herself in a compromising situation and—without any say in the matter—betrothed to James Morgan, Duke of Girod.

Working for the War Office, James at first believes that Charlotte is involved in a conspiracy against the government. But he is soon proven wrong. Together they work to bring the culprit to justice. Though aware of the passion between them, the vibrant Charlotte and the arrogant James must find the words to express the love and trust they share.

Better research of the Regency period would have been appreciated, but Ms. Robins still managed to craft a nice adventurous tale. SENSUAL (Dec., 373 pp., $5.99)
