When Julia Sommerville's sister, Tina, commits suicide, the journalist temporarily returns to her small North Carolina hometown to help her mother take care
of her sister's daughter. Julia and Tina were estranged for years over a man Julia thought she loved, her old college professor Cameron Birch. Fate and a car accident throw Julia and Cameron together, but she's hiding a secret and not sure what to do about it. In Her Sister's Child (4), Cynthia Thomason does an excellent job of creating three-dimensional characters and putting them in a realistic situation. Julia's insecurity and Cameron's anger are powerfully rendered.
