Jilted at the altar, Catherine Canton is looking for a way to get back at her two-timing ex, Derek. She decides to propose to his cousin, who is also Derek's competition for the family's retail business. Stephen Danbury must quickly marry to retain his interest in Danbury's, and since Catherine's women's shelter could use some cash, marriage could be the perfect solution. Her Stand-in Groom (3), by Jackie Braun, has a light, enticing setup that should capture readers' interest. Much of the plot, however, relies on convenient devices—e.g., Stephen has no idea of the proviso in their grandfather's will until the very last minute because Derek hid it from him.
