A wonderful novel whose characters find themselves in situations not of their choosing and try to make the best of it. The vivid details are not heavy handed. Parr has the Midas touch!
Annabelle Tyler has married a man she barely knows in order to save her reputation, even though she tries to tell the minister nothing improper happened between her and Harrison Graymoor. Harrison is as unhappy as she is and promises her he will do what he can to get the marriage annulled, but they soon realize their world has been turned upside down.
