A cleverly plotted and well-written time travel is always a treat. Mackay uses standard time-travel elements, then adds innovative twists, snappy dialogue and loads of sexual tension to create a fun, sexy story.

Paranormal investigative journalist Kira Bedwell first meets 14th-century laird Aidan MacDonald when she's touring Castle Wrath; after that, they "meet"
in erotic dreams.

Then, when she's in Scotland on assignment, she's flung back in time and into Aidan's arms. He must convince the clan she's not a witch and persuade Kira never to leave, but first he must capture his ruthless cousin and protect the clan. Kira's knowledge of the future tells her Aidan, not his cousin, will die. But she vows to find a way to force history to work for them -- even if coming back to the future will help fight the evil of the past. (Signet Eclipse, Nov., 352 pp., $6.99)
