Book Review

by Maya Banks

Genre: Historical Romance, Scotland
Sensuality: HOT
Setting: 13th-century Scotland

RT Rating

The second book in Banks’ Montgomerys and Armstrongs series is a shadowy tale of redemption and recovery when Genevieve McInnis is finally freed from her hellish, year-long captivity at the hands of a sadist. Despite familiar characters, and the author’s talent for highlighting the medieval world, the graphic details of Genevieve’s abduction, imprisonment and rape may be too much for gentle readers.

Returned to freedom when Bowen Montgomery seeks revenge for a wrong done to his own clan, the scarred Genevieve falls under the famous warrior’s protection. Bowen’s honor is the perfect balm for her many wounds, but the ever-warring Scottish clans might prove stronger than the couple’s new love. (BALLANTINE, Mar., 351 pp., $7.99)
