Miller‘s twist on the captive/captor romance, reminiscent of early Johanna Lindsey, is a fast read that will be titillating to those who want a historical with pleasure/pain and rough yet consensual sex. Though not for gentle readers, or those not fond of first-person narrative, many will find this just their kind of bedtime read.

The men of Clan Mackenzie are true Highland warriors. When Wilkie Mackenzie backs out of his marriage agreement, his brother Kade steps in and demands Stella Morrison as his bride. Though she’s heard the rumors about his pride and sensuality, Stella believes her marriage will be in name only. Kade is consumed by his desire to woo a willing Stella into his arms and carefully sets his battle plan in motion. The games he plays delight Stella more than she’ll admit. His “punishments” introduce her to heretofore unknown delights, until danger and an enemy threaten their love. (HQN, Jun., 380 pp., $7.99)
