HIS DARK BOND
This dark fantasy is the second book in Marsh’s Fallen series. Although the plot is compelling, it doesn’t move as seamlessly as one would hope. Some details are unclear, such as the motive for the deception that resulted in the Dominions’ banishment from heaven. Paranormal fans should be satisfied with the action and the scientific research angle —and the scorching sex scenes area nice bonus.
Zer is the leader of the Dominions, angel assassins who have been exiled from heaven for rebelling against the archangel Michael. These fallen angels have been on earth for more than 3,000 years and their only hope of regaining their souls — and their place in heaven — is to find and bond with their soul mates. The devious angel who orchestrated their downfall is making things harder by searching out and killing the mates. Enter research scientist Nessa, who has discovered a 13th tribe of Israel and a DNA test that will identify the soul mates. Unfortunately, Nessa is on the kill list. (BRAVA, Feb., 304 pp., $14.00)
