When movie director Joe Kelly returns home after several years to make a documentary on his family's bar before it's sold, he finds out that the buyer is none other than Lisa Malden, his "almost sister-in-law" and the mother of his nephew. But when an old attraction flares between Joe and Lisa, his trip home becomes a little more complicated than he expected. His Real Father (4) by Debra Salonen is a character-driven read. Joe and Lisa are a perfect pair, with feelings of guilt and inadequacy that they manage to triumph over in the end.
