HIS UPTOWN GIRL (4.5) by Liz Talley: When jazz pianist Dez Batiste moves into a quiet New Orleans neighborhood with the intention of opening a jazz club, he meets resistance from nearby shopowners who believe his club will bring unsavory people into the neighborhood. Even though antique shop owner Eleanor Theriot initially thinks Dez’s club is a bad idea, she’s attracted to the sexy younger musician. Fortunately, the two have time to bridge their gap and solve their difference of opinion. Sexy characters and an interesting plotline make Talley’s tale a must read. Dez is sexy and just troubled enough to be compelling, and Ellie is a strong, likable female character.
