FBI agent Caitlyn Tierney is back for a third time in another intriguing thriller. It’s a bit grisly at times, but what keeps the reader turning pages is Tierney’s journey to redemption, and watching the wall she’s built up around herself slowly break down thanks to Jake Carver. Romance mixed with archaeology and a medical crisis — what more could a reader want?

Caitlyn takes on small cases after getting shot in the head. She shouldn’t be working at all, but she’s determined to prove her naysayers wrong. She learns of Maria Alvarado, a college student who disappeared in Guatemala. Working with special agent Jake Carver, they soon discover Maria might be a pawn in a plot that involves a lost temple and the illegal human tissue trade. (MINOTAUR, Sep., 336 pp, $7.99)
