Blake does it again with a Christmas tale that will make your spirit joyful. It’s a compelling read with a little depth. The realistic characters make the story a treat and the small-town feel creates an intimate reading experience. You’ll be glad you took another trip to Destiny.

Alone for the holidays and recovering from her divorce, Sue Ann Simpkins decides to take a weekend away from it all at a cabin by the lake. Wouldn’t you just know it, her ex’s best friend shows up and claims the cabin is his. Feeling very Scrooge-y lately, Adam can’t believe the woman he’s always held a torch for is in his life. Maybe Christmas won’t be so lonely for either of them after all. (AVON, Nov., 384 pp., $7.99)

Loved this book!

I received this book through Netgalley and I loved it. Sue Ann is a single mom with an incredibly thoughtless ex husband. Adam is the best friend of the ex and godparent to SueAnn's daughter. They meet up at a secluded cabin and sparks fly between them. Back in town they still are attracted to each other but every day life intervenes. Sue Ann's ex threatens to stop her alimony and asks Adam to be a character witness. I thought the author did a great job portraying the difficulties of being in the middle of a divorced couple who were previously your friends. She also realistically portrayed what it is like being the one of the couple who was set adrift and sees all of her safety nets being withdrawn one by one.
The chemistry between the two characters was hot! and the problems they had to overcome made the ending even more satisfying. I had not read any of the books in the series but after reading this one, I bought them all and am enjoying reading them. Sharon(rockvillelibrary)
