HOME TO HOPE MOUNTAIN (4) by Joan Kilby: When Adam Banks moves to Hope Mountain to take care of his teenage daughter, Summer, full-time, he sees a town recovering from devastating bush fires that killed many and destroyed much of the town a year earlier. Hayley Sorensen, who lost her husband and several horses in the fires, runs a horse therapy clinic in order to help other survivors. The two soon learn that Hayley’s husband had an affair with Adam’s then-wife. Kilby presents a story about learning to trust again after an emotional setback and about the need to rebuild after everything is lost. She treats some touchy, emotional subjects with real delicacy and does a good job expressing her characters’ emotions.
