HOME AT LAST CHANCE
Ramsay returns to Last Chance, S.C., in her follow-up to Welcome to Last Chance. While the romance is between fairly stock characters (a bad-boy Nascar driver and a Boston preacher’s daughter), it’s nicely told. It is not necessary to have read the first book, readers will be just as entertained if they start here.
Sarah decided to get revenge on the nasty manager who stole her marketing idea by putting his name on a truly dumb idea. Her plan has backfired: Corporate loved it and she got assigned to be the liaison to a Nascar driver who is now required by his sponsor to wear a pink outfit, drive a pink car and judge diaper-changing races. And the campaign is selling diapers like mad. Tulane can’t refuse the deal because he is already in the doghouse with his sponsor for his temper and the fact that he hasn’t won a race this season. The little babysitter the company sent is sure cute though. Tulane is from Last Chance, so his chances of keeping the church ladies and the gang at the Cut & Curl out of his business are about zero. It doesn’t help that Sarah fits right in with the casserole brigade. He has no business messing with a nice girl like her, but she believes that bad boy Tulane has a lot of good-guy qualities as well as a grin that makes her heart race. (FOREVER, Sep., 352 pp., $7.99)
