Book Review

by Cathy Kelly

Genre: Mainstream, General Mainstream Fiction

RT Rating

Kelly delights with detailed descriptions and well-crafted characters. Though enjoyable, it is somewhat predictable, and Eleanor’s storyline is surprisingly not as developed as others. As the recipe book is woven throughout, including recipes would have been a nice touch.

Eleanor Levine returns to her native Dublin with one of her most prized possessions: her mother’s recipe book. There she meets three women: Megan, who’s been accused of breaking up a perfect marriage; Rae, who struggles with her past; and Connie, who fears she will never find love outside of romance novels. Can Eleanor, with the aid of her mother’s recipes, help them find the ingredients for a happy life? (GALLERY, Jul., 448 pp., $16.00)
