While the pace is slow at times and the storyline predictable, the characters face realistic challenges that are not unique to the Amish community. Extras include a reading group guide, a glossary and an excerpt from the next Hearts of Middlefield book.

Elisabeth Byler takes a job at her brother Lukas' shop and reconnects with Aaron Detweiler. After some legal trouble in the English world, Aaron feels like an outcast in the Amish community, but when Elisabeth finds herself in a precarious situation, Aaron may be the only one able to help. Lukas is taken in by Anna Esh, who is keeping a secret from him. Will it destroy their relationship, or can their love overcome any obstacle? (THOMAS NELSON, Mar., 320 pp., $14.99)
