Chief Cam Anderson is insecure about decisions she's made in the past. Being offered the commanding officer position on a piloting training mission just might go a long way. But this might be harder than she thought. She leaves her nearly all-female squadron and enters a world where two of her three pilots don't believe a woman should be teaching them.

But Gus Morales makes the job worthwhile. Gus clicks instantly with Cam, and the two enjoy working together. They're drawn to each other, but each has hurdles from the past to surmount before they can face what they're feeling.

In addition to a multifaceted romance, some touches of magic and delightfully entertaining secondary characters give McKenna a formula for a terrific story. (Mar., 304 pp., $6.50)
