RT Rating

This Southern romance, with a little mystery thrown in, follows Hot and Bothered, although it works as a stand-alone. Dialogue and actions come across as too stereotypically Southern and cutesy. If you don't find the Southern cuteness too cloying, you will enjoy this amusing story with likable characters, including a heroine worth rooting for.

Good-hearted Savannah detective Bebe is distressed to find herself teamed with visiting Yankee detective Donovan, who seems bent on bringing down a favorite local character. Things get more complicated when Bebe and the Yank start burning up the sheets.

Combine those two points of friction with a 30-year-old unsolved murder, a missing necklace, friends in trouble and uncertainty about biological parents, and Bebe has a lot of loose ends to tie up. Savannah is beginning to grow on Donovan, until more people die and he and Bebe are caught in the crosshairs. (BRAVA, Nov., 288 pp., $14.00)
