O’Clare picks up where she left off in the last installment of her Bounty Hunter series, taking readers on another wild ride where love is discovered and an elusive criminal is pursued. Plentiful action and sizzling chemistry between Ben and Zoey make this story entertaining, but the familiar, predictable plot takes a little bit of the luster from an otherwise enjoyable story.
Ben Mercy wants to make a new start as a bounty hunter and leave his checkered past behind. He figures the way to do this is to catch the most wanted criminal around — the Mulligan Stew assassin. Then he meets Zoey Cortez, and the attraction between them is intense and passionate. Zoey is under the thumb of her powerful, domineering father and getting involved with her puts Ben’s life at risk. Yet Ben will do whatever it takes to protect Zoey, even helping her escape her father. (ST. MARTIN’S, Apr., 400 pp., $7.99)
