The two stories in this book are filled with hot sex — and a lot of it. There’s a lot to come to terms with in establishing what amounts to a relationship between seven guys and a girl, and the foundation is laid here — all puns intended. The sex is hot, but the stories don’t give enough time to really get to know the characters and accept their need to establish this very unconventional relationship.

Two novellas start off the Hot Rods series — a spin-off of Rylon’s popular Powertools series — featuring a family of choice made up of seven guys who work on custom cars and Salome “Mustang Sally” Rider, who does the custom paint jobs, all of whom were fostered by the same wise father. In the first story, “King Cobra” Eli has to decide if he can be what his best friend Alanso needs. And, in the second, “Mustang Sally” comes to terms with her past as well as a future with Eli and Alanso. (SAMHAIN, May, 272 pp., $15.00)
