With this incredibly talented lineup, readers are in for a wild and varied ride! These 12 stories run the gamut from supernaturally sexy to sad and disturbing. There's no shortage of intriguing characters and creative plots. The real challenge facing these authors is delivering a uniquely satisfying tale in such a short space. For the most part, they succeed amazingly well. This format is a great way to get a feel for an author's individual style and voice.

A sampling of what is in
store includes: "Minotaur in Stone" by Marjorie M. Liu, which features a homeless woman and a trapped monster. An incubus struggles against his nature in Cheyenne McCray's "Demon Lover." A Greek goddess seeks revenge for damage to the planet in L.A. Banks' "Equinox." In Keri Arthur's "To Die For," a pair of paranormal investigators are up against a truly nasty vampire. Finally, Kim Harrison's "Dirty Magic" explores the treacherous world of the banshee. The remaining authors include: Tanya Huff, Susan Krinard, Heidi Betts, Lilith Saintcrow, Susan Sizemore, Carrie Vaughn and Linda Winstead Jones. (HARPER, Jun., 512 pp., $7.99)
