by Adrienne Basso

Basso has a gift for creating madness and mayhem in stories tinged with simmering passion and poignancy. This follow-up to The Christmas Heiress, featuring a rakish hero and a daringly unconventional heroine, is a charmer sure to hold reader's interest to the very end.

When Gwendolyn Ellingham attempts to rescue her sister from scandal by sneaking into Viscount Fairhurst's bedroom, she has no idea the lord of
the manor is not what he seems. When Jason Barrington's identical twin
brother, Jasper, asks him to look into irregularities on his estates, the roguish Jason agrees. He's surprised when he's besieged by every unmarried lady in the county and shocked to find Gwendolyn in his bedroom.

Her intelligence and wit captivate him, and he's intrigued by the rumors of her scandalous past. Though she knows the real viscount is wed, Gwendolyn is unaccountably attracted to Jason, and when he comes to her aid, supporting her against the prejudiced women of
the area, he becomes her hero. Being together may get the gossips' tongues wagging, but they're more interested in solving the mystery on his estate.
