HUNTED BY THE OTHERS
by Jess Haines

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

RT Rating

Talk about being between a rock and a hard place! New UF voice Haines takes pleasure in placing her gutsy heroine in a highly untenable position. Haines has created an intriguing cast of characters whose motivations and loyalties will be great fun to explore. Kudos!

A severe lack of funds forces P.I. Shiarra into taking a case she knows is going to be trouble. Since 9/11, the supernaturals have come out of the shadows and obtained legal standing. A magi from the circle hires her to get close to vampire businessman Alec Royce to find where he is hiding a dangerous artifact. A spy reveals Shiarra's motives to Royce and he plans to force her into a dangerous contract. At the center of this storm is an artifact that can be used to control members of the Others. But who really has control of it? (ZEBRA, May, 352 pp., $6.99)
