Book Review

HUNTING EVE
by Iris Johansen

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Suspense

RT Rating

Johansen’s terrifying Eve Duncan trilogy second picks up the cliffhanger ending from the first book and concludes with another gut-wrenching cliffhanger. Readers barely get a chance to breathe as the action moves from the peril Eve faces to the desperate lengths her friends and family are prepared to go to save her. Vintage Johansen!

In a desperate attempt to escape from madman Jim Doane, Eve tosses the partially reconstructed skull of his serial killer son, Kevin, off a cliff and flees into the wilderness. Meanwhile, Joe Quinn and Jane enlist Kendra Michaels to find where Eve is being held. Kendra and animal whisperer Margaret Douglas find clues that lead toward Colorado. Doane and his accomplice are killing those involved with Kevin’s death. Their prime target is legendary assassin Zander. Zander honored the CIA’s request to leave Doane alone, but now he plans to take him out. Will Eve get caught in the crossfire? (ST. MARTIN’S, Jul., 400 pp., $27.99)
