RT Rating

Readers will want to read this story with a full stomach, or with healthy munchies nearby. Thompson describes food so deliciously you’ll need to work out after reading. This story is comfort for the heart, too, as you’ll be reminded that God blesses us in surprising ways.

Opportunities are appearing for plump bakery owner Scarlett Lindsey. Her new bakery, Let Them Eat Cake, is now open next to the infamous Rossi family’s pizzeria; she gets to compete on the Food Network’s bake-off; and her love life heats up, with two men vying for her attention. Motivated to shed weight fast, her need to control everything may have her getting rid of things God purposefully placed in her life. (REVELL, Aug., 320 pp., $13.99)
