This next installment in the Wherlocke series is another Howell winner! Well-developed characters and snappy dialogue compel readers to turn the pages while eagerly anticipating the characters’ next moves. As with many of Howell’s memorable novels, we see old friends as well as new characters who will be begging for their own stories.

When Lady Olympia Wherlocke is approached by Lady Agatha Mallam to help her find her brother, Brant, before she is forced into an unwanted marriage, Olympia cannot refuse. Since Wherlockes have powers, Olivia “knows” things. Brant Mallam, the Earl of Fieldgate, has spent the last two years wallowing in self pity and debauchery. When Olympia arrives to tell Brant about his sister, he realizes that he has spent too much time ignoring his responsibilities. He decides to investigate the problems befalling his family and uncovers that his mother is involved in some very sordid dealings. Brant is attracted to Olympia, and he knows that his reputation would ruin her, but the more time they spend together, the stronger the attraction between them grows. He must save his sister and put an end to his mother’s crimes. Will their love be strong enough to survive everything they must go through to find happiness? (ZEBRA, Apr., 352 pp., $7.99)
