Prosecutor Kristen Mayhew has a very good track record when it comes to winning cases, but even she can't win 'em all. After a particularly bitter loss, she returns to her car to discover that she has a new secret admirer—unfortunately, this admirer has decided to mete out his own brand of justice against criminals that have gotten away.

While he can't feel too sorry for the current victims of this new vigilante killer, detective Abe Reagan fears that things could escalate. He's right: Now the father of one of the criminals executed holds Kristen responsible and vows revenge. If that weren't bad enough, she's also got the
vigilante killer on her case. But this killer seems to know way too much about Kristen, leading Abe to suspect it is someone she knows.

Becoming a monster to eliminate monsters is the haunting theme in this terrifying and gritty new thriller. With this terrific, gut-wrenching tale, Rose is certain to gain a very large following. (Oct., 496 pp., $7.99)

After a bad day in court and finding a flat tire on her car, Assistant State's Attorney Kristen Mayhew finds evidence of three murders in the trunk of her car. A vigilante killer, calling himself her "humble servant" is bringing justice to the victims of the cases that Kristen lost. His letters to Kristen tell her that he is doing this on her behalf. Detective Abe Reagan is one of the detectives assigned to the case. Even though they are both attracted to each others, issues from their past keep them at arms length.

Another great book from Karen Rose. This is a well plotted police procedural with an interesting romance thrown in. Both Kristen and Abe are characters with depth who both had an interesting back story. The secondary characters are also well fleshed out and seem like real people. I'm really enjoying all the stories from this author. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
