Desperate to reconnect with her high school principal husband, Nick, and get her emotional needs met, Chessie McCabe goes on strike and forces her whole family to take on more responsibility. Chessie's antics are funny, and her character likeable, in Amy Frazier's Independence Day (4). Anyone can empathize with Chessie's feelings of being overwhelmed by her family's needs. Her confusion about what she needs and her husband's occasional inability to understand make them characters we can all identify with.
