Once again, Hill creates a wonderfully plotted story about Matthew and Dulcie, who were first introduced in The Blood Doctor. Their love for each other is poignant, and the complex world of supernatural creatures well defined. The ending leaves readers hanging and eager for the next book in the Ancient Blood series.

Vampires Matthew and Dulcie have been happily married for eight years. They are descendents of aliens who settled, then sank the island of Atlantis. When Matthew, a scientist, is accused of improper dealings, he quits his job at the lab and hospital and goes to work for Jay Ashford, a hybrid vampire and hematologist. What Matthew discovers there, and the actions he takes, gets him framed for a crime he didn't commit and on the run from his own people. (, dl $6.49)
