The third chapter in Battis’ intriguing OSI series looks deeper into Tess’ unconventional home life as it continues to collide with her job. Battis is slowly revealing the secrets kept by all her characters, and it is making for exciting reading.

The brutal murder of high-profile necromancer Luiz Ordeno brings Tess face to face with her secret lover, Lucian Agrado. Tess’ life has become very complicated as she and OSI partner Derrick attempt to raise orphaned vampire teens Mia and Patrick. There are a number of strange elements to Ordeno’s murder, including his wearing golden armor. It doesn’t take long for politics to raise its ugly head, but Tess is not one to back down quietly. With Lucian’s help, Tess ventures into the strange world of the necromancers. The clues to this grisly murder are fleeting and magical; getting the evidence to stop a killer won’t be easy.
