During a TV interview, psychologist Jenna Kincaid is caught off-guard by a question about a series of murders in the area. Her response angers ex-Army Ranger Sean Murphy, and he confronts her. His words chill Jenna. According to Sean, the three local deaths are part of a much longer chain of killings -- and she fits the victim profile perfectly.

Though initially mistrustful, Jenna softens toward Sean when she learns that his sister is one of the dead. Eventually, they strike a bargain -- in exchange for Sean's protection, Jenna will help him draw the killer into the light. But the Inquisitor, as he's known, is clever, and it's easier said than done.

Wilson delivers a top-notch fusion of mystery and steamy romance, with a driven, intensely sexy hero. This novel isn't graphic, but there's strong stuff all the same. (Jul., 384 pp., $6.99)
