Catch up with the Brown family and friends in this intense love story. Less sexually charged than some of her previous books, Dane’s latest focuses on relationships: lovers, family and friends. Ella and Cope, two people with confidence issues, struggle to form a relationship. If you don’t think you can relate to characters with tattoos and piercings, think again — this is a powerful story of love.

After almost being killed in an abusive relationship, Ella is slowly making progress in returning to a “normal” life. She has known Andrew Copeland for years, and has fantasized about him during that time. When Cope asks Ella on a date, their relationship starts to move beyond friendship. They have a powerful physical attraction, but Ella doesn’t trust her judgment or her reactions. Cope has always been a player — can he handle a serious relationship? Add to the mix an estrangement in the Copeland family and the risky pregnancy of a friend, and there are a lot of issues to deal with. (HEAT, Nov., 320 pp., $15.00)
