This novel is as entertaining and engaging as its witch heroine and vampire hero. Strong writing, a spunky heroine, a rakish hero and a supernatural plot combine to make this story a delightful page-turner.

Warrior witch Blaire Lindsay reluctantly accompanies her brother Aidan to the castle he has inherited in Scotland. Days after arriving, Blaire discovers and frees vampyre nobleman James Maitland who has been trapped within the castle walls for two decades by the magic from a coven of witches. In gratitude for being freed, James puts Blaire and her brothers under his protection, especially when it becomes clear that there is an unknown enemy targeting the family. In the midst of it all, both Blaire and James can’t hide their mutual attraction for each other and that makes things increasingly complex. (SOURCEBOOKS, Mar., 416 pp., $7.99)
