Widow Melanie Bennett supports herself and her son restoring antique cars, and she has no need of a man. Then ex-hockey player Sam LeDoux arrives and reminds her of what she's lost. A disaster recovery specialist, Sam's the man who was in charge the night Melanie's husband was killed -- but he's also incredibly attractive. Eventually Melanie warms up to him, but can she overcome her fears about his dangerous job? Christine Wenger begins The Hawkins Legacy with It's That Time of Year (3). The story adds some interesting twists to a familiar scenario and holds the reader's interest, but it lacks emotional punch.
