The second book in the Lawless Women saga follows Jacey Lawless as she searches for the killer of her ex-outlaw father and mother. Her hunt takes her into Mexico to find a member of her father's old gang who may be responsible for the murders.

Armed only with her courage, her gun and a piece of a silver spur, Jacey arrives in town where she comes face to face with Zant Chapelo, her enemy's grandson.

Just out of prison after serving five years for a crime he didn't commit, Zant wants to enjoy his freedom. But when Jacey walks into his life he's plunged into her plan for vengeance.

Unable to trust Zant because of his ties to her enemy, Jacey nevertheless begins to respect and eventually fall in love with him. As they journey to his home, she is caught between being his captive and his captor. She needs his help and at times his protection, yet she is always wary.

In an emotionally charged climax, Jacey and Zant confront a man with their suspicions about his involvement in her parents' deaths. What they learn is frightening; what they gain is a love and trust that nothing can destroy.

JACEY'S RESTLESS HEART has a very powerful, complex plot and emotional story that held me breathless. It is not an easy story to forget, and Cheryl Anne Porter's talents have never shone brighter. The stage is set for the final volume in the trilogy and it will be hard to wait for this one. SENSUAL (Dec., 350 pp., $5.99)
