This prequel to the popular O’Malley series is short and poignant. However, coming years after the series of six books and another prequel, it seems a bit of an unnecessary afterthought. Yet true fans of the series will enjoy this small treat.

Pediatrician Jennifer O’Malley is busy and has no time for love, but when she meets Tom Peterson, she falls head over heels. She treasures their blossoming relationship and wants to introduce him to her large adoptive family, but doesn’t know how. When she receives some news about her health, she must rely on those who love her and her new relationship with Jesus to get her through. (BETHANY HOUSE, May, 160 pp., $12.99)
